I would like to hear from senior students (third year (2009) and above) who would be interested in acting as tutors and facilitators in an orientation program for commencing international students in the Faculty of Health in 2009. This will involve approximately 40-50 hours of your time over a three week period from Feb 2-20, 2009. During Feb 2-6 you will be trained as a tutor/facilitator and from Feb 9-20 you will be involved in the orientation program as a tutor/facilitator and in other related activities. You will be paid tutor rates for your services.
If you are interested please mail me: Judith(dot)Scott(at)newcastle(dot)edu(dot)au (Deputy Head of Faculty, Teaching and Learning) with an Expression of Interest. Please ensure that you provide full contact details so that I can contact you with further information during the summer break.
Kind Regards
Judith

A big hearty welcome to you all from your new UNMS Website Officer.
As you have probably worked out, the web address newcastlemed.com redirects you to our new home on the Internet: unms.org.au. The site is still officially ‘under construction’ but I hope to have that status changed very soon. You can help this by submitting any material/ideas to the Contact Us page.
The plan is to have the site fully operational as soon as possible as it will be a source of information for the potential students of 2009, so any info that tells the UNMS story would be great. Of course, we also need this stuff ready so we can start pursuing the sponsors!
The goal of this website is for it to be a living environment. A website that is updatable by the individual UNMS committee members and a website which is open for comment and disscusion to all UNMS members. Information on how committee members can look after their portfolios on the website will be provided shortly.
For those out there looking for info on UNMS (Newcastle Uni’s MedSoc), keep checking back as everything you need will be here soon.
And finally, a big thanks to my predecessor Jessica, who did a fantastic job of getting UNMS out to the world and making our website the go-to place for all Newcastle Medicine info!
Shane.
